The CITB SMSTS 5-Day Training Course is designed for site managers, site agents, and anyone else who is responsible for planning, organizing, monitoring, controlling, and administering groups of staff and a workforce. To obtain the qualification, delegates must attend all days of the course.
The SMSTS certificate is valid for 5 years. After this time, candidates must take the SMSTS Refresher Course to renew their certification.
The training covers relevant legislation and other aspects that affect safe working in the building, construction, and civil engineering industries. It highlights the importance of risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of necessary control measures, and effective communication to maintain a health and safety culture among the workforce.
Delegates under the age of 18 must provide written consent from a parent or guardian to be able to attend the course.
The CITB SSSTS 2-Day Training Course is designed for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities. By completing this CITB course, supervisors will gain the knowledge and skills they need to understand health, safety, welfare, and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. The course will also highlight the importance of promoting health and safety in order to supervise effectively.
The SSSTS course is endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) as the standard training for all supervisors working on UKCG sites.
